Kloros was founded in 2020 with the ambition of revitalizing French forests and aligning economic value with ecological restoration

75% of France’s forests are private.

Citizens are on the front lines.

Investing in vibrant forests aligns economic and ecological interests through close-to-nature forest management

Invest to make a difference

Many private forests are poorly managed or not managed at all. Buying a forest with Kloros means choosing to manage French forests well and make an immediate impact.
Implementing sustainable, diversified, and nature-based forest management allows you to:● Protect biodiversity and natural ecosystems● Enhance resilience and anticipate climate change● Optimize carbon sequestration to restore French carbon sinks● Improve high-quality timber production for local use

Why invest in forests

Forests are proof that economic and ecological interests can go hand in hand.

Sustainable investment

By investing in forests with Kloros, you have the power to implement sustainable, sensible management and optimize the ecological impact of forests (biodiversity, carbon sequestration, water, soil…). You also help support local rural economies.

Returns and growth

Kloros is committed to managing your forests over the long term, guaranteeing sustainable and environmentally friendly operations while maximizing the value of your investment.
Implementing close-to-nature forestry (continuous cover forestry, Pro Silva) is often more profitable than intensive forestry: growth of standing timber capital under canopy cover, natural regeneration avoiding planting costs, smoothed revenues through gentler and more frequent interventions, and reduced exposure to climate and health risks

Diversification and wealth transfer

With an attractive risk/return profile that is uncorrelated with financial markets, forests are a powerful tool for wealth transmission and diversification.
Benefit from numerous conditional tax incentives: a 75% tax exemption on wealth tax (IFI) and inheritance/gift taxes, income tax reductions, rollover relief under Article 150-0 B ter, and more

Our turnkey solution

1

Sourcing

Through an extensive network and access to off-market deals, Kloros sources the best opportunities in a tight market: high-potential forests whose management needs significant improvement.

2

Valorisation

Through a field survey (soil, climate, site conditions, timber, etc.) and advanced financial modelling, Kloros assesses the technical value of forests for sale and determines their ecological and financial potential (capital growth and income).

3

Acquisition

Kloros structures and executes acquisitions: administrative formalities, setting up the investment vehicle, planning and zoning matters, and support with bank financing where required.

4

Management

Kloros implements sustainable forest management through its in-house forest managers. The Pro Silva approach applied by Kloros optimises the growth of future crop trees, smooths income and keeps costs down (natural regeneration rather than planting, light harvests at regular intervals, etc.).

5

Value creation

Kloros also activates the forest's other value drivers:● Land consolidation through the acquisition of neighbouring plots● Financing of carbon and biodiversity projects● Optimised game management● Public access and participatory tree marking● And much more

Cutting-edge forestry

"Imitate nature, hasten its work" — Lorentz and Parade

Kloros practises silviculture based on Pro Silva principles. This approach seeks to:

● Encourage a diversity of species and ages within each compartment, ensuring the long-term viability and resilience of a complex forest system in the face of climate hazards.

● Support natural regeneration through light, dispersed interventions that let light reach seedlings on the forest floor.

● Protect biodiversity, water, soils and landscape character by avoiding large-scale clear-felling at the end of the rotation.

● Maximise tree growth and quality, avoid the cost of replanting after felling, and generate more regular income (on average every six years per compartment).

This mixed continuous cover forestry aims to optimise forest ecosystems so that they fulfil their multiple socio-economic functions sustainably and profitably.

Kloros does not provide investment advice. It provides forestry analysis, studies, audits and advice, as well as advice on forest acquisitions. Its services comprise forestry information, forest management advice, modelling and projections of the recommended silvicultural regimes, and economic modelling and projections derived from those regimes.
